In their efforts to build their business through the Suez Canal, the Port of Halifax has ventured to India to promote their Port and have signed an agreement with Jeena & Company to represent them within the country. It is the first time that the Port Authority has engaged a marketing agency in another country.

Mr. Ian Oulton, Chairman and Ms. Karen Oldfield, President and CEO of the Halifax Port Authority regularly visit India to sell the Port and its benefits to shippers, manufacturers, importers and exporters, spreading awareness of the viable option of using Halifax to reach North American markets via the Suez Canal.

Appointing Jeena & Company as their Ambassador, the Halifax Port Authority has formally opened its first overseas office in New Delhi. Mr. Sachin Singh (email:portofhalifax@jeena.co.in), Business Development Manager, is actively involved in the promotion of the Port Of Halifax's business interests in India. With a three pronged strategy targeting the print media to increase visibility, shipping lines operating in Indo-North American trade lanes and buying houses, importers and exporters, the office will promote and increase the awareness about the port in the Indian Market about its strategic location on the eastern seaboards of North America.

INDO - CANADIAN DELEGATION TO HALIFAX & TORONTO
Port of Halifax and Jeena & Company have successfully accomplished the unprecedented task of organizing the Trade Mission to Canada. This was a pioneering effort by any Port to have organized a very well represented Trade Mission to Halifax and Toronto. The trade mission comprised of some Top Names in the newly resurgent Corporate landscape Of India who had global presence and clout. The trade mission was organized between 17th June & 22nd June 2007 both in Halifax & Toronto.

The Trade Mission was very professionally organized with each day having a balanced spread of Business & Social program. The objective of the Trade Mission was to showcase the Captains of the Industry the Infrastructural & Logistical marvel at the Port. Port Of Halifax also organized B2B meetings for all the participants to have reciprocal business opportunities.
The Trade Mission evoked strong response from the Canadian Industry with each day and every event having participation in excess of 200 participants. The Canadian participants represented nearly all the segments of the Industry. The Indian Industry represantatives have risen to the occasion with their dazzling performances and eloquence about their business success. The performance was symbolic of the nation on rise with its resurgent Industry calling the shots all over the world.
This was an epochal Mission for Halifax as it has added new dimensions to the Indo - Canadian Trade relations.

MOU

Realizing India’s full potential in the world markets and with India likely to dominate trade with North America, the Port Of Halifax, Canada through its local partner, Jeena & Company signed a comprehensive MOU with the Chennai Port Trust on 29th January 2009 for co-operation in Maritime transportation, port development and mutual promotion of the two ports.
